Meet Into The Box 2016 Speaker: Eric Peterson
Eric Peterson
Eric Peterson (@_elpete) is a cfml and javascript developer at O.C. Tanner in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah and received a degree in Information Systems thinking he would hate programming as a career. He started programming in cfml (and in general) in 2012 and has never been more happy to be proved wrong. What he lacks in experience, he makes up for by demos and blogging. A beginner himself, he blogs about many beginner topics at http://dev.elpete.com.
Q & A with Eric
What made you want to speak at ITB 2016?
I wanted to speak at ITB 2016 as a way to push my own understanding of certain topics by teaching them to others. I also wanted to speak as a deadline for myself for creating awesome open source contributions and modules.
Anything in particular that you want to experience during the conference?
I'd love to learn about new features of the *box products, especially ColdBox and TestBox. I'd also love to see awesome modules created by the community.
Tell us something random about yourself:
I've played the piano for over 20 years. I compose and arrange music, mostly religious songs, at http://music.elpete.com.
Eric's Session
Integration Testing In A Modern World tech tasting session
The hardest part about testing is knowing where to start. This session will focus on the most natural place to start: the Integration Test. In this session we will see some of the following:
Setting up a test environment (database, ColdBox environments)
Using database transactions in your tests
Assertions against the database
Simple, fluent integration testing
